I can relate to everything you experienced as I was a young mom many years ago. Love your style of writing keep at it love those babies now because they will be on their own path soon enough
This is such a beautiful piece Ashley! My oldest daughter turned 9 last weekend and I was blown away by all of these feelings and memories and thinking how all of these seasons, the good ones and the hard ones pass so quickly. Thanks for sharing! xx
I remember these feelings so vividly. My kids are now 6 and 10 but this line hit me hard: All the while trying to tear myself in two so that I can share myself with her brother.
I think at every age we must feel this sense of living grief between ourselves and our children. I just hope I remember all these long days with joy as well as exhaustion ✨
Beautiful Ashley. As a mum of an 18 year old, I’m often reminded how ‘soon’ comes around... soon he’ll be off travelling, or moving out... soon he won’t be here for daily hugs and chats... and for now I’m relishing every moment.
I can only imagine the conflicting feelings we experience as our children set off into the world. I’m so in the trenches at the moment that I can’t even picture my kids at school, let alone as teenagers! Hope you can soak in these moments with your son ✨
The more I reflect on being a mum, the more I see it’s alllll about living in the moment... sure we might flit ahead or glance back, but we can’t help but be NOW with them, right? Enjoy every moment, is what I implore every mum I know 💕

Thank you for the support! It’s mind blowing how quickly time passes even while deep in the thick of it 🫠
